Reactor at nuclear plant brought offline for maintenance
Operators at the Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Salem Twp. disconnected the Unit 1 reactor from the electrical grid on Saturday to perform a brief, proactive maintenance outage.
“Susquehanna’s maintenance professionals will be restoring redundancy to a major piece of equipment to ensure reliability and predictability of our generation equipment,” said Brad Berryman, site vice president. “Our team is driving toward industry leadership in the areas of safety, operational and financial performance. The station decided to take this action, at this time, to ensure Susquehanna achieves its 2018 objectives.”
