Exelon taps GE software to improve reliability at its 6 utilities
Exelon’s partnership with GE highlights how utilities are increasingly turning to big data to help manage their systems.
GE’s Predix systems will utilize historical data and weather analysis, along with asset and area conditions, to help predict outages and give real-time reports on utility system equipment. The software will integrate data from smart assets on the Exelon grid, ultimately providing greater precision in determining when maintenance is required.
The Predix software will be rolled out at Exelon utilities Atlantic City Electric, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO and Pepco subsidiaries. The systems will also help these utilities recover faster from storms and improve overall customer reliability, and can assist utilities in implementing preventative solutions.
