Callaway Energy Center Begins Refueling and Maintenance Outage
Ameren Missouri’s Callaway Energy Center began its 22nd planned refueling and maintenance outage on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Approximately one-third of Callaway’s fuel assemblies will be replaced during the outage at the 1,285-megawatt nuclear facility, in addition to other maintenance actions and upgrades.
“There is a 10,000 item task list to accomplish,” said Barry Cox, senior director of nuclear operations. “One of the largest jobs will be the first complete overhaul of the main generator stator assembly. We’re taking it down to the wiring.”
