Duke Energy: Snake caused widespread power outages in Concord
CONCORD, N.C. — Over 12,000 people lost power in Concord Sunday after officials say a fire at a Duke Energy delivery point damaged equipment.
According to Duke Energy’s officials, the outage was caused by a black snake that caused damage in the City of Concord’s substation.
The initial outage was restored around 2 a.m. Officials say most of those affected by the first outage again lost power when the backup equipment failed.
