Southwest Power Pool sets new winter peak demand record
The Southwest Power Pool set a new winter peak demand record of 37,780 MW, the grid operator said.
SPP set the new record at 7:21 am Friday, beating the previous record of 37,412 MW set January 18, 2016.
North Hub on-peak day-ahead LMP was $33.91/MWh for Friday delivery, compared to the month-to-date average of $30/MWh. South Hub on-peak day-ahead LMP was $33.44/MWh for Friday, compared to the month-to-date average of $34.43/MWh. In comparison, December 2015 North Hub on-peak LMP prices averaged $17.98/MWh while South Hub averaged $20.46/MWh.
