Florida Power & Light Marks Milestone For 2016 Installed Solar
Florida Power & Light Co. (FPL) says it has installed its 500,000th solar panel for the year – which marks the electric utility’s halfway mark to a goal of 1 million newly installed panels in all of 2016.
The newest panels will comprise three solar energy centers in Florida’s Manatee, DeSoto and Charlotte counties. Each will provide 74.5 MW of generating capacity.
“We’re tripling the amount of solar energy we generate for our customers this year, and we plan to continue adding more cost-effective solar in the future,” said Eric Silagy, FPL’s president and CEO.
