Swepco issues RfP for 100 MW of wind
August 18 (SeeNews) – US utility AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co (Swepco) has launched a Request for Proposals (RfP) for up to 100 MW of wind power capacity.
The American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) subsidiary seeks to purchase of wind assets that can be put into commercial operation by end-December 2018. The assets must be interconnected to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and located in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri.

So far, SWEPCO has signed purchase power agreements (PPAs) for 469 MW of wind farms. “With the potential purchase of newly completed wind energy facilities, we are continuing SWEPCO’s strategy of diversifying our resource mix to provide reliable and affordable electricity for our customers in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas,” president and COO, Venita McCellon-Allen, said.
