PJM Interconnection extends hot weather alerts through July 28

PJM Interconnection has issued hot weather alerts each day through Thursday, the grid operator said Tuesday.
The alerts, issued for 7 am through 11 pm each day, direct market participants to be prepared for high demand and hot weather. Hot weather alerts for Tuesday and Wednesday were issued Sunday, while a hot weather alert for Thursday was added Tuesday morning.
Forecast high temperatures range from 89 to 98 through Thursday, as much as 12 degrees above seasonal norms.
Demand was forecast to peak at 145,575 MW Tuesday, 143,575 MW Wednesday and 137,975 MW Thursday. The highest level reached this year is 151,882 MW on Monday, according to ISO preliminary data. The peak record is 165,492 MW, set in July 2011.
