Exelon’s Peach Bottom-3 nuclear power unit shut for refueling, power uprate
Exelon Generation’s Peach Bottom-3 nuclear power reactor in Delta, Pennsylvania, shut early Monday for a scheduled refueling and maintenance outage, the company said in a statement.
The unit was taken offline at 12:03 am EDT Monday, plant spokeswoman Krista Connelly said in an email.
During the outage, Exelon will implement equipment modifications as part of an extended power uprate, it said. Some of the modifications that have been or will be made include replacing high and low-pressure turbines, steam dryers and main power transformers; upgrades to feed water pumps and motors, and an overhaul of the main generators, the company said.
The same uprate work was completed at Peach Bottom-2 during its fall 2014 outage, Exelon said.
