FPL technology investment should result in fewer outages
Florida Power and Light customers should see fewer power outages going forward and shorter wait times when outages do occur.
The company is installing 20,000 automated lateral switches across its 35 county coverage area that will not only let FPL know where and when there is an outage but will also work toward fixing the outages on their own.
“We’re able to see that there was some kind of interruption or outage through the line but because of the technology that’s inside the line, what they can do is restore power much faster,” said Eileen Dees, FPL spokesperson.
“Imagine if your power went out or you had to reset your breaker. If you weren’t home, you wouldn’t be able to reset your breaker. Well, these automated switches do it on your own,” she added.
