ERCOT CEO to step down
H.B. “Trip” Doggett, president and CEO of the Austin-based Electric Reliability Council of Texas, will step down in 2016.
ERCOT’s board of directors now begins a hunt for his replacement, with priority being given to internal candidates before deciding whether or not to expand its search to outside candidates, according to an ERCOT announcement.
Doggett’s career in electrical engineering spans decades. He has worked with ERCOT, which manages Texas’ electric grid, since 1998 when he was a consultant to Austin Energy. In 200, again as a consultant, he began working with ERCOT as is overhauled its market structure. In 2008, he come on board as ERCOT’s chief operating officer, and in 2010 he was named to his current post.
