I find Eric McFarland’s criticisms of nuclear regulation overstated (“Rethinking the U.S. Surrender on Nuclear Power,” op-ed, April 28. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission can be improved, but it is rightly recognized as the world’s best nuclear regulator. Many countries won’t deploy a reactor unless it has first been approved by the NRC.
