City helps commercial electric customers counter rates
their energy usage even more and be eligible for financial reward, as the city’s electric department continues to work to improve the way they produce energy and deliver it to their utility customers at a competitive rate.
Hamilton’s City Council approved legislation at their Feb. 25 meeting for the city to authorize its commercial electric customers to enter into a Demand Response Program via American Municipal Power. This program is volunteer-driven, and meant to help curtail large companies’ energy usage to prevent events like rolling blackouts, where the demand on the grid is so intense it shuts down entirely.
